  I am leaving 2 stars because I imagine the brown haired middle-aged fellow who works here is a decent man on a.good day.
  
  I came in here yesterday after walking by a few times while I was on vacation. I already selected what I wanted to purchase for a loved one, but ideally I would have liked some input & guidance from the staff/owner/whoever that was working there. There were only 2 other people in the shop when I arrived. I made a slow lap around the store and looked at every display. I even walked up to the display he was standing behind to examine it. After 10 minutes of being in the store and the worker not greeting me, acknowledging me, or even make eye contact with me I left.
  
  I do not expect working people to smile warmly at me, put on a song and dance, and ask me about my life story. But not being given a simple acknowledgement, head nod, "hello", smirk, or even eye contact feels strange when the man working had no issue speaking to the two females customers in the shop. Maybe my dark skin and casual clothing made him assume I had no business in the shop--but I cannot know that was why. What I can say for certain is that, in my 30 years of life, this is my first time leaving a review like this. At a minimum it was odd and rude.
  
  If you go about 30 meters down the street there's another store called Opal Minded which I had a much better experience at. I left there with something 2.5 times the price of what I was going to purchase at Rockhounds.

  Extremely knowledgeable owner and staff. High quality opals and great prices. I bought a gorgeous purple and blue boulder opal pendant and shimmering blue and green boulder opal earrings. I shopped at 5 other opal jewelry shops and this was by far the best. A co-worker highly recommended this shop to me. You can rely on high quality, fair pricing, expertise, and excellent advice when selecting your opal jewelry here. I am very happy with what I got. Be sure you buy solid opals, not doublets and triplets which are just thin slices of opal sandwiched in other materials. Also, this store is licensed to sell duty free and will package your purchase to eliminate the 10 percent tax when you go thru customs.

  Buying opals with little or no knowledge is no easy feat. Thanks to Paul and his wife, who were very patient, showing us a range of loose opals to choose from. Explaining the difference between them helps you understand the wide price differences. After a couple of visits today, we're very happy with the opals we bought.

  I purchased my now wife's engagement ring back in 2016.
  This is a black opal crystal.
  We have been so happy with this as it's different from your run of mill diamonds.
  When we are in the rocks we always make sure we drop by.
  The opals are are beautiful and have unique settings.
  The owner of Rockhounds always rememberes us and stops to talk to us.
  We would highly recommend Rockhounds as they carry high quality and quantity opals.

  Absolutely stunning opal jewellery! I recently visited this store and was blown away by their selection of opal pieces. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in helping me find the perfect piece for my collection. The quality of their opals is truly exceptional - the colours and patterns are mesmerizing. The prices were reasonable, and the store has a great variety of styles to choose from. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in each piece is evident and adds to the overall beauty of the jewellery. I highly recommend this store for anyone looking to add some unique and beautiful opal jewellery to their collection. Five stars!

  Great family-run opal shop. Highly recommend! They mine the opals and set them into jewelry which means they have some gorgeous settings rather than the mass-produced designs you'll see everywhere. Prices are fair and you'll also get some extra goodies including a picture of the mines. If you have giant fingers like me, they're also able to make rings larger for you, it was ready the next day. There was no pressure to buy, they provide truly excellent customer service to help you find the stone that suits what you're looking for best.

  This is the perfect family owned business, with people who love what they do and want to share it. The owner is a local who only planned to stay for a few months over 50 years ago. The family knowledge and passion shines through. Lyn helped us every step of the way in choosing a perfect piece for us, and educated us with every step. This little shop, especially the people in it, has made our time here very memorable.

  We looked at every opal store in town and Opalios had the most beautiful collection by a long shot. I spent a week deciding if I wanted to buy a ring or not and the staff were all so helpful and patient. When I decided on it, they went above and beyond to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and then to package it up beautifully. I was also able to have the ring resized in less than two hours for no additional cost. A great opal buying experience!
